On August 31, 2018, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released a Federal Register Notice announcing three public listening sessions for the new rulemaking to look at issues associated with managing peak flows during wet weather events at municipal treatment plants with separate sanitary sewer systems.
EPA will hold these public listening sessions to gather input from interested members of the public on the issues and concerns about which the Agency should be aware during this rulemaking. The public listening sessions will begin with EPA providing a brief background on peak flows management issues and EPA's goals for this rulemaking. This will then be followed by an opportunity for the public to provide input on these issues. EPA is asking that oral statements be limited to three minutes or less and is welcoming written statements at the sessions. Two sessions will be held in person, one in Washington, D.C., the other in Lenexa, Kansas. The third listening session will be held via webinar.
You may attend and speak at any or all of the sessions; however, depending on the number of speakers, we might request that you limit your spoken comments to one session, due to time constraints.
In-person sessions will start at 9:00 AM and go until all comments have been heard, or 2:00 PM, whichever comes first.
The webinar will start at 11:00 AM and go until all comments have been heard, or 4:00 PM, whichever comes first.
For additional background information please see the Peak Flows Management Rule page, and for details on how to submit written comments to the docket please see the Federal Register Notice. Questions about the listening sessions? Contact peakflowsrule@epa.gov.
